Subject: Powersuit City

The recent "Valkyrie Girls!" and "Non-magic magical girls" threads have
inspired me to come up with this setting:

MAIN INFLUENCES:
Iczelion
Galaxy Fraulein Yuna
Project A-ko
Metal Fighter Miku
BACKGROUND:
In the year 2125 A.D., the Earth was invaded by a horde of insectoid aliens, who decimated the planet's militart defenses. However, a genius scientist named Akane Yuuki managed to create advanced powered armor with which a succesful civilian defence was mounted. In the aftermath of the war, the Earth mangaed to rebuild, and the first city created after the war came to be called "Powersuit City". The powersuits are especially popular as fashion among teenaged girls, and there are many companies that specialise in making custom-designed powersuits for them.

CAMPAIGN NOTES: Powersuits are worn almost exclusively by females. Nobody
knows the reason for this, but it is theorised that it may involve the anime
cliche that the only males who have good-looking powersuits are bad guys.

Besides being fashion items, the powersuits have useful applications -

Firstly, the Insectoid aliens are still stupid enough to occasionally make
attacks, and the powersuits give an opportunity to go and beat them up (the
military proved back during the invasion that they were too unreliable to be
allowed to defend the Earth).

Second, powersuit-based sports have been popularised. As well as
gladiatoral-style fights (with the object being to destroy your opponent's
powersuit), Powersuit-based hockey and gridiron (football to you
Americans) have gained a large following. Weapons are permitted in these
sports, but excessive use is discouraged, and most (but not all) weapons are
designed to entangle or otherwise hinder opponents.

Third, a there are fair number of girls who have doubtful stability and a
tendency to hold grudges (a la B-ko), and the Powersuits provide an
opportunity to defend oneself (of course, the grudge-bearing girl will
certainly have her OWN powersuit... 'nuff said).

BTW, all buildings in the city have nanotech self-repair systems, and they
need them!
