World Situation

Since the Powersuit City posts have started up again (Goody!) I've decided to post a short report on the world situation.

JAPAN: Probably the country that has recovered best in the wake of the invasion, Japan is, of course, the country in which Powersuit City is located (Powersuit City was built on the ruins of Tokyo). Japan has become the world's major economic power, with many of the world's major corporations being based there.

CHINA/KOREA: China is also doing reasonably well. Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong and several other cities have been rebuilt, and the country is a popular tourist destination. Powersuit technology has become popular here, particularly among the Amazon tribes. For whatever strange reason, one of the most popular tourist destinations in China is Jusenkyo, the infamous valley of cursed springs.

North and South Korea didn't even stop arguing with each other during the invasion, and there is a hundred kilometer wide neutral zone between the two countries just to stop them shooting at each other.

SOUTH EAST ASIA/INDIA: These countries are also doing fairly well. Nepal and the now-independent Tibet are favourite locations for skiing holidays (international travel is extremely cheap compared to what we are used to today

- "Mom, I'm going skiing in the Himalayas with Yuki for the weekend", "Oh, that's nice, Atsuko, hope you enjoy yourself")

RUSSIA, MIDDLE EAST, NORTHERN AFRICA: The insectoid aliens haven't been completely driven from Earth, and a large proportion of these areas are under their control. The aliens also try and invade other parts of Earth every so often, without much success.

SOUTHERN AFRICA: African nations, while not as badly off as they are today, are still mostly third-world countries that tend to be run by military juntas. Rebellions, civil wars, coups, invasions, and other such activities are common.

EUROPE: Several cities have been rebuilt, and Europe is doing fairly well, although not as well as the Asian nations. The European nations are the world's major industrial/manufacturing centers.

NORTH AMERICA: The headquarters of the Archetypal Earth Military Force With An Acronym For A Name (AEMFWAAFAN) are located here. AEMFWAAFAN forces a combination of AD Police and Imperial Stormtroopers - in other words, hopelessly ineffective cannon fodder whose sole purpose is to get slaughtered in large numbers. The commanders tend to be self-serving morons who can't think of anything other than their own power and glory (like General Galt in Teknoman).

Powersuits have gained popularity as fashion, especially in California (another favourite holiday destination for Japanese girls). American versions usually come with big guns as accessories.

Except in Minnesota, where hockey equipment is a favorite accessory. Powersuit Hockey is becoming a favorite sport among Minnesotan teenagers, especially since all those nice things like high sticking, tripping, cross-checking, et cetera are usually ignored by the ref (since injuries don't result from them as often).

SOUTH AMERICA: Bombing during the invasion resulted in North and South America becoming seperated. South America is divided into a number of small countries privately owned by the parents of Wealthy Brats in Powersuit City.

AUSTRALIA AND NEW ZEALAND have recovered fairly well, and are a big hit among tourists, especially "Cute Animal" fans. A lot of genetic-engineering research goes on here, involving things like increasing animals' kawaii, and modifying them so that they can talk. Australia is also home to many of the world's most famous powersuit-sports stadiums.

CYBERSPACE is mainly used for entertainment, with a popular accessory being Willow Enterprises' "Virtuizer", which creates a cyberspace duplicate of the user (complete with powersuit, equipment, etc). Cyberspace malfunctions from time to time, sometimes trapping people there or bringing cyber-creations into the real world...
