CyberNet Hardware

Now available from Zetatech: The CyberNet Nterface!

The CyberNet Nterface extends upon Zetatech's proven CellSoft technology, making Cyberspace accessible to everyone anywhere! No longer will you have to navigate through the CGI labyrinth of the Ihara-Grubb interface. A world of information and communication is now a thought away!

How does it work?

The CyberNet Nterface creates a custom Avatar that does the work for you. Since the Avatar is housed on our server, you won't need to install any software or use any valuable MU of resources. And since the CyberNet Interface is fully cellular and wireless, there's no need to purchase a dedicated land-line CyberNet connection for your home. Simply turn on the Nterface and request information. The Avatar does the rest, searching through available online resources and providing you with an easy to navigate list of options, pre-screened by the Avatar according to your preferences. The selected information is then provided to you in either Presentation Format, providing sensory overlap through the appropriate sensory nerves; or Memory Inscription, sending the information directly to your own memory as if you'd always known it!

MRAM chips are tools of the past with the Nterface. Now you can purchase knowledge direct from the distributor and have it downloaded directly to your memory using Memory Inscription. Your account will be billed automatically.

The CyberNet Nterface also uses the CyberNet to it's fullest advantage by providing a full telecommunications suite. Send and receive e-mail, data, voice, video, and even VR messages through the CyberNet, and all from one convenient number: Your CyberNet Address. And if you are unable to receive your message live, the message will be stored on your personal server space, accessible at any time day or night.

Media today is increasingly being broadcast and archived on the CyberNet. Use your CyberNet Nterface to catch live Media such as Network News 54, World Enterntainment Network, and many more. And if you miss the real-time broadcast, simply request the desired broadcast from their extensive archives. Every minute ever broadcast on any CyberNet Media Site is stored for antiquity and is accessible any time day or night.

One World, One Telecommunications Medium. To the CyberNet, it's all just data. Don't let a byte pass you by. Purchase your Nterface today!

Security

Connecting to the CyberNet is as safe as ever. CyberNet Servers use some of the most sophisticated security software and protocols ever developed for civilian use. Though Server Security levels vary depending on CyberNet Access Provider, most server security features at least Strength 5 Datawalls and Codegates.

Your Avatar

Your avatar appears to you, superimposed onto your sensory field of perception, allowing you to interact with the CyberNet without having to navigate the cumbersome I-G Inteface. You can select from one of thousands of Avatars to suit your personal tastes, everything from celebrities to animated animals. You then can customize your Avatar with your own preferences and parameters. Your Avatar will become your new best friend!

CyberNet Service Rates

CyberNet Access: Access to the CyberNet varies depending on CyberNet Access Providers, but on average costs 100 Eb/month and is billed directly to the user's account. This includes full Computer and Telecommunications Network access, 10MU server space, Avatar maintenance, and Strength 5 Datawalls and Codegates. Stronger Security can be purchased for an additional 50 Eb/month per level. Additional server space can be added for an extra 50 Eb/month per 10MU.

CyberNet Sites: the vast majority of information available over the CyberNet is available free of charge. Zetatech is not responsible for the quality or veracity of data available over the CyberNet. Many CyberNet sites require the user to pay a fee for use of the data. Charges are simply added to the user's CyberNet account. Prices vary. Average charge is 10 Eb/month, though services such as Infocomp may charge much more depending on the level of service. Consult current Infocomp information rates for more information.

Online MRAM databases: MRAM database access can be rented per day. The information in the user's brain expires upon cancellation. Prices vary based on level of skill purchased:

Level 1 = 5 Eb/day
Level 2 = 10 Eb/day
Level 3 = 20 Eb/day

Required Cybernetic Accessories

Sensory Nerve Tap
Surgery: Minor (500 Euro, 2 hour procedure, 1d6+1 damage, DIFF=20)

Description: nanites build a tap onto the user's Optic and Auditory nerves to the brain, providing superimposed sensory signals provided from any external source* via the user's Interface Plugs. The tap wires both right and left eyes and ears to provide for full stereo sensory perception. If one optic or auditory nerve is damaged, then the effect is lessened (the video overlay becomes blurry and unreadable, the audio overlay is tinny and one-sided).

Cost: 500 Euro (1000 including surgery)
Humanity Loss: 1d6/2 (additional 1d6 for sensory nerve damage mentioned above)

*External sources include anything equipped to provide signal to a Video Imager or CyberAudio.

Users may use twin Cyberoptics with Video Imager and twin Cyberaudios instead for the same effect. (3350 Euro, 4d6+2 total Humanity Loss)

Disclamer: prolonged use may cause cancerous cerebral tumors due to increased RF field exposure. Zetatech is not responsible for any medical problems that may arise from improper use of this product. Zetatech is further not responsible for any damages incurred from illegal tampering to the CyberNet Access Provider servers, avatar software, or mainframes. Further, some data lag may be experienced with use of said services during peak usage hours (-1 REF or INT), said companies are not responsible for any damages incurred by such lags.

>These Nterface doohickey's are real handy. They make the Net accessible anytime anywhere. Most of the software is server-side so you never see a cartridge. It's cellular so it's mobile. Your brain is the hard drive.

>The security is adequate, but there's still a chance some malicious hacker's gonna do an end-run and get access to your memory. I've heard stories of people who had false memories implanted in their heads when they really wanted to download stock quotes. That's real nasty. The CAP servers screen for the code that does that kind of stuff, so it takes a truly skilled hacker to bypass that, which makes that kind of stuff very rare. It's still impossible to get back the original memories, though. Luckily, it's also impossible to take over someone's mind and make them do stuff like a puppet. Fake memories can come close by suggesting actions, but they never override a person's will.

>It is possible to hack from an Nterface, thus ditching the whole I-G Interface, which I agree sucks. You simply install your software on the server instead of slotting cartridges in your deck. Otherwise, it works the same as always, except for removing that stupid virtual movement. VR is for VR sims, it never should have been used for a CyberNet interface. I don't know what that cow Janice Grubb was thinking!! You tell your Avatar what you want, it does the rest of the work for you. Since you set it's preferences and parameters, it'll do exactly what it's told. The AI algorithms used in these things are pretty basic, but they're fully interactive and definitely use fuzzy logic to figure out what you told it to do, within reason. Unfortunately, anti-personnell software still affects you directly. That's the sucky thing about direct neural connections. You get instant direct-to-brain transfer and speed, but you're vulnerable to forced feedback, loops, and neural damage. Contrary to popular belief, there is no real electric shock sent through the lines or airwaves. Instead, the brain receives a signal from the attacking program to damage itself, simulating a shock. Signals can even be sent to raise blood pressure and body temperature to fatal levels, so be extra careful and pack those protection programs. >>>>>SIGNAL TERMINATED 45%00200.234A343
