Nick Hurley was Rick Kulland's high-school friend.  When they were 16, Nick and Rick attempted ripping off Nordstrom's downtown. It was Nick who was caught and Rick who got away.  Nick went to juvenile detention for his crime and hated Rick forever after.  Nick never broke out of the cycle of juvenile crime and went back and forth between the street and juvie-hall for three years. Now he's in jail and has pledged that if he ever got out, he'd make Rick pay.
