Character Creation

To create the characters of Bubblegum Conundrum, I used several rules from Champions: The New Millenium, the other Fuzion game system by R.Talsorian Games. I included Power Points and called them Equipment Points (EP). Thus I had three interchangeable character generation point values: Statistic Points (SP), Campaign Points (CP), and Equipment Points (EP).

Statistic Points could only be spent on Statistics. The Players were given 30 to spend on all 10 statistics, with no statistic exceeding 6 though they could be less than 1 if they wished.

Campaign Note- upon several play-tests, conversations with the players, and deconstruction of the various NPC's in the book, I have decided to greatly enhance the power-level of the campaign by allowing my players to have an average of 6 per stat, doubling their existing stats and bringing them more in line with the rest of the game. I hate doing this, but with an average of 3 per stat, they are less powerful than an 18-year-old girl with a camera or an old man in a wheel-chair. We'll see how this affects the game.

After one session, I have determined that I like the addition of 30 more Statistic Points. The characters are better suited to take on bad guys and do heroic things. The players' morales are already up and no one went overboard with their points. One, in fact, mainly bought off some of his expensive complications that would have just weighed him and me down. Now everything is Legendary level, and fits in with the NPCs and Knight Sabers.

Campaign Points could be spent on Skills, Perks, and Talents or earned though Complications. The Players were given 50 Campaign Points to create their characters. Most players chose templates for their skills. No Skill could exceed 10.

Equipment Points could be spent on all equipment and vehicles including Hardsuits. Boomer or Cybernetic characters could spend EP on Superpowers from Champions as if they were Power Points. Players were given 200 Equipment Points to purchase hardsuits (150 right there), weapons, vehicles, bases, clothing, equipment, or superpowers.

Points could be exchanged at a rate of 1 SP per 5 CP, 1CP per 5 EP, or 1SP per 25 EP.

Experience Points are awarded at the end of each adventure and are equivalent to Campaign Points for exchange purposes, but spend on a sliding scale. In other words, it cost a number of Experience Points equal to the next level to raise to the next level. Statistics can be raised the same way, but the Experience Point cost is multiplied by 5. Experience Points can also be spent on equipment or powers at a cost of 1 Experience Point for 5 Equipment Points.

I will provide pictures of the characters and any new characters as they develop.
