Bubblegum Conundrum Episode Summary
Bubblegum Conundrum was written, by me, as an episodic campaign, with a beginning, middle, and end. Over the course of 7 months, our gaming group, comprised of Cheney Moss,Jeff D
odd, Kara Alber, Fred Haslam, Ariane Harten, and Lawrence Wagner, played 18 sessions. Here is a listing and summary of each session:
- Big Town, Part 1: A Boomer attacks a car trying to get a message to MacGrady Motors. The Dragon Knights intervene and stop the boomer, but the occupants are killed and the message is recovered by Rick Kulland of the ADPolice. 1 Combat Boomer vs. The Dragon Knights.
- Big Town, Part 2: Rick delivers the message to D. MacGrady after decoding it himself. He attempts to rescue Dr. Henry MacGrady from his forest research compound and refugee shelter from a planned Genom Boomer demolition project. He is aided by
the Dragon Knights, who fight off the Demolition Boomers and Combat Boomers and get Dr.MacGrady, his research staff, and several refugees to safety. Dr. MacGrady reveals that he is investigating secret Genom seismological tests being done in the Cascade M
ountains.5 Combat Boomers and 2 Demolition Boomers vs. The Dragon Knights.
- Big Town, Part 3: While escorting Dr. MacGrady to Seattle on the Cascadia MagLev Train; Toshi, Meg, and D. must fight Terrorists who commandeer the train. The takeover is merely a plot to kidnap Dr. MacGrady, however, and it fails after Meg kil
ls the Fusion Boomer that took over the train and Toshi and D. kill the terrorists and Combat Boomer that held Dr. MacGrady hostage on top of the train.

- Broken Mirror, Part 1: A Meg imposter robs the Genom bank at midnight, instigating a police stand-off which is ended when the Dragon Knights intervene, killing the Combat Boomer bank robbers. Note: This was Jeff Dodd's last appearance as D. unt
il the very end. Jeff returned to college at WSU in Pullman.

- Broken Mirror, Part 2: Yuri Hunter is assigned to be Rick Kulland's partner, the two are given the task of finding and terminating Meg. The ADPolice trash MacGrady Motors in a search. Rick's investigation turns up evidence pointing to Iria, Meg
's old partner at Genom, thought dead.No Combat this scenario
- Broken Mirror, Part 3: Rick and Yuri's investigation lead them to Toy Tanaka, who formerly supervised both Meg and Iria. Meanwhile, Toshi and Meg attempt to infiltrate GenomNW as Genom officers. They are discovered and brought before Toy and Ir
ia, where a fight ensues. Alisa, in the Switchblade, braves automated gun turrets and Battle Boomers to rescue Meg and Toshi from the Toy's offices at the summit of GenomNW.4 Guardian Boomers vs. Toshi, 2 Battle Boomers vs. Alisa in t

- Tech District Kidnapping Xin Xiang and his Triad kidnap Taylor Thomas in an attempt to lure whoever's purchasing his contraband Military Hardware. Alisa, Rick, and Meg go searching for Taylor, leading them to Xin Xiang. Meanwhile, Toshi witness
es the gang execution of his NetGrrl contacts, leading him to Xin Xiang. During a tense stand-off between Xiang, holding Taylor hostage, and Rick and Alisa, Xiang begins to question Alisa about what she's doing with all that illegal military hardware, thr
eatening to reveal her true identity as Switchblade. Before she had to think of an answer, however, Rick shoots Xin Xiang in the head, saving Taylor.Genki vs. Toshi in the Cyclops/Cyclone, Xin Xiang, The Cyborg, and 10 gangsters vs.

- Cat Scracth Fever: Rick Kulland's investigations into several gruesome slayings in Washington Park lead him to a Genom recovery operation of a rogue experimental boomer, The Cat. After an ADPolice chopper is shot down, the Dragon Knights interc
ede, stopping Genom's team and capturing The Cat. Her future becomes a matter for a lengthy court battle. Note: This was the first appearance of Lawrence Wagner's character, Gorge.4 Combat Boomers vs. The Dragon Knights and Rick Kulla

- Battle 23: While having coffee in Portland's trendy 23rd Avenue, Rick intercedes in a kidnapping attempt by 3 boomers. The Dragon Knights, shopping nearby, soon join the battle as one of Portland's trendiest neighborhoods turns into a combat zo

- River Raid: The ADPolice raid a Triad shipment of illegal boomers on a Freighter in the Willamette River. The battle turns ugly, however, and the Dragon Knights soon intervene. Rick is severely injured in the melee2 Utility

- Haywire: A Battle Boomer runs amok down Hawthorne Blvd. in East Portland. Rick and Yuri respond, but when Rick is again near fatally wounded, the Dragon Knights intervene.1 Battle Boomer vs. Rick and The Dragon Knights.
- Covert Op, Part 1: Rick quits the ADPolice after being near fatally wounded twice in 4 weeks. He becomes a Private Detective and notifies all his contacts. Toshi and Meg are hired by BMDL Aerospace to infiltrate GenomNW to retrieve files pertai
ning to Operation One.Many Guardian Boomers and Many Combat Boomers vs. Toshi and Meg.
- So I Married a Boomer:Rick is hired to follow a man's wife. He discovers she is a boomer reporting to Genom. When he calls the husband, warning him of his discovery and telling him to come to MacGrady Motors to meet him, his call is monitored.
Several Genom agents respond to MacGrady Motors and a gunfight ensues. Later, when Gorge reports the details of Operation One and the fact that several Boomers are impersonating key government officials, he is fired. A VR Recorder is found in his apartmen
t, implicating him in the hoax. Seeing her work in the shop decline, Alisa decides to hire two new employees, M-296 and Eddie Jones. Note: This was an adaptation of an adventure published in Shadis Magazine. The only adventure in this series not written

- Weekend Trip Toshi is approached by his old rival Masaomi Kanzaki, who provides to him details of where his wife is being held and an offer to join GenomNW. in a hope to distract Toshi from interfering in Toy's plan. Toshi and Alisa go to Mega
Tokyo. Alisa asks Sylia Stingray for advice and any help she give on the situation she faces. Toshi gives the details of Toy's Operation One to Kate Madigan, his former associate in Genom.No Combat in this adventure.
- Covert Op, Part 2:Toshi leads a suicidal attack against the Genom Speical Assets Depository deep beneath the South Pacific. He barely makes it out alive and the Cyclone is trashed.4 Advanced Battle Boomers, 4 Automated Guns
, and 10 Security Boomers vs. Toshi in the Cyclops/Cyclone.
- Covert Op, Part 3: Rick, who has quietly figured out the true identities of the Dragon Knights, organizes a covert raid on an Ebisu Mechatronics factory in Beaverton in the hope of learning more about how Genom replicants report and on how Geno
m agents respond. Genom agents come and clean up the mess, right on schedule. The Dragon Knights then intercept the van carrying the evidence away and a chase down Eastbound Sunset Highway ensues, resulting in the van going off the Marquam Bridge into the
Willamette River and the Dragon Knights recovering the download terminal. Lawrence disappears after he wrecks his motorcycle in the chase.2 Guardian Boomers and 2 Security Boomers vs. Rick, Meg, and Lawrence; later 4 agents, 2 boomer
s and 2 techs in the van with 3 boomers supporting from a following Aerodyne vs. Alisa in the Switchblade/Stormblade, Meg, Rick, and Lawrence.
- Triad: D. returns to town only to discover his shop damaged from the gunfight in "So I Married a Boomer", a new boomer working in his shop, and that he has to pick up Toshi from the airport.He later goes to the Egyptian to buy a new body. Lawre
nce mysteriously reappears, broken and tattered, in MacGrady Motors. Later that day, his old partner Geoff Lundt returns. He offers D. a package, D. cautiously accepts. Geoff is shot in the throat from behind by Triad hit-men. A battle then ensues inside
of MacGrady Motors (again) as the Triad gangsters try to recover their stolen package. The package turned out to be the money Geoff stole from D. two years ago, obviously stolen from the Triads. The Cyborg, 8 gangsters vs. The Dragon
Knights sans hardsuits.
- Finale! Part 1: Alisa and Rick work out a plan to stop Toy Tanaka. Toshi quits the Dragon Knights and goes on vacation to Sydney, Australia. No combat this episode.
- Finale! Part 2: Toshi discovers his wife is a boomer replicant and kills it. The police believe he has killed his wife, and Toshi escapes the country with the help of his former Genom employees. Meg and Rick attend Toy's New Year's Eve Party, o
nly to be detained. Alisa attacks the GenomNW tower in her Stormblade. Toshi infiltrates the tower through the geothermal steam vents. Lawrence turns traitor as he is controlled by Toy's OMS. Toy reveals his plan to the world and delivers his ultimatum to
the U.S. President Diedre Shaw, who is in attendance at the party. Several battles ensue, culminating in a final battle at the summit of Genom NW tower. Alisa and Meg are killed by Canberra. Rick sees to the safety of the President. Toy's final act is to
activate the Orbital Lasers, causing a mass Volcanic eruption, only the laser has been re-targeted and destroys the GenomNW tower itself! In the end, Quincy appears on a broken monitor, saying.."I never should have hired him."
