Revised Lifting/Throwing Table
This new table incorporates how long an object thrown at 45 degrees will stay in the air before it lands. Times for orbit and above are irrelevant because the object is going so fast it will never land. For complete gearheads, the table also lists the velocity required to throw something, anything, that distance, not counting atmospheric resistance of course. For comparison, a 90mph baseball pitch is going about 40 meters/second, a .38 bullet leaves the barrel at 266 meters/second, the speed of sound at sea level is about 300 meters/second, and a .30 rifle round generally leaves the barrel at 900 meters/second.

So, what does this mean for throwing and leaping? Well, if a character throws a baseball 500 meters, it will stay in the air just over 3 Phases before hitting the ground or target. Likewise, if a character leaps for a total of 5 kilometers, he will remain airborne for 30 seconds, or 10 Phases, and will be travelling at 220 meters/second, or 220 Move (Fuzion 5.02) or 330 Move (DBZ).
Which brings up the difference between Fuzion 5.02 and DBZ. In F5.02, a MOVE is measured as 3m ( to convert from meters/second, multiply x1.0). In DBZ, a MOVE is measured as 2m (to convert from meters/second, multiply x1.5). Since DBZ has a different definition of Walking, Running, and Sprinting speeds, it evens out for Walking and Running, but does affect Sprinting Speeds. Use the table below to compare Fuzion 5.02 movement to DBZ movmement.
In one phase (3 seconds), a F5.02 character can..
walk | run | sprint | |
1 | 1m | 2m | 3m |
2 | 2m | 4m | 6m |
3 | 3m | 6m | 9m |
4 | 4m | 8m | 12m |
5 | 5m | 10m | 15m |
6 | 6m | 12m | 18m |
7 | 7m | 14m | 21m |
8 | 8m | 16m | 24m |
9 | 9m | 18m | 27m |
10 | 10m | 20m | 30m |
In one phase (3 seconds), a DBZ character can..
walk | run | sprint | |
1 | 1m | 2m | 4m |
2 | 2m | 4m | 8m |
3 | 3m | 6m | 12m |
4 | 4m | 8m | 16m |
5 | 5m | 10m | 20m |
